Burnhill Derwent Cottage Reviews

Mark
Derwent Cottage really impressed us with its size and calm setting. We enjoyed a lovely week, especially relaxing in the hot tub and exploring nearby attractions. Even though it's quite secluded, shops are easy to reach. We're definitely planning to stay here again, it’s a gem really!
Jamie
We honestly couldn't ask for more. The place was spotless, warmand super comfy - everything we needed. The owners were really helpful, opening up the property so we didn't have to cut our day short for our Saturday dinner plans. The small shop on-site is handy for essentials. The views are stunningand relaxing in the hot-tub under the starry sky was just perfect. The only thing is, it’s a bit remote, but Durham's only half an hour away, so it's not a big deal at all. Definitely a spot we’d come back to!

We stayed at this cottage and loved it! Plenty of space for everyone, with three ensuite bedrooms and comfy seating. The place was spotless, stocked with crockery, glassesand utensils for six. The hot tub was a real highlight, towels includedand the kids enjoyed the piano. Stunning countryside views and a welcoming touch with fresh flowers and gluten-free chocolates. We also visited Beamish and Whitley Bay - perfect day trips. Lucky with the weather too, sunny all week. Highly recommend!
Emma
We had a lovely stay at this spacious cottage in a peaceful spot. The place was super comfortableand the brownies waiting for us were a lovely touch! We loved watching the wildlifeand our dog had a blast running around in the shared enclosed garden. The hot tub was perfectand the onsite shop with essentials and DVDs was really handy. Weather wasn’t great, but that’s just how it goes sometimes!
Emma
We had a lovely stay with stunning countryside views. It’s so peaceful here, perfect if you want to escape the hustle and bustle. No WiFi means real downtime, which we appreciated. The fresh eggs in the cute shed were a lovely touch. Not far from Durham or Hexham, easy to find on sat nav. Highly recommend!
Emma Clarke
We absolutely loved the cottage! It’s spacious, super brightand kept in fantastic condition. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The lounge was perfect for relaxing on the comfy leather sofas by the fire. Bedrooms were lovely with en suitesand the hot tub was a real treat. Highly recommend!
Emma
We had such a lovely weekend at this cottage! The views are absolutely breathtaking and it really feels like a home away from home. The bed was super comfy and spacious, perfect for relaxing. The wood-fired hot tub was definitely the best part - felt so special. Plus, arriving to a home-baked cake was such a sweet touch. We’re already planning to come back!
Emma
Thanks so much for all your help! We really appreciated how flexible you were with the last-minute changes and fixing my sister's flat tyre. Such a lovely spot, just what our family needed. Cheers again, Jayne. X

Lauren
The cottage was perfect for my mum's milestone, really charming. Definitely planning to use again for family get-togethers!
James
The cottage was lovely, we really enjoyed the hot tuband I’d definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of booking!
Emma
The cottage was spacious with lots of comfy seating and cosy features like underfloor heating and a log burner. The hot tub was fantastic, but a heads-up: it’s already lit, so opening vents and adding wood is needed to warm it up faster. Overall, a lovely stay!
Emma
We spent a great midweek escape with our group of six adults and three little ones aged 1, 2and 3. The barn was cosy and beautifully decorated, with each bedroom having its own en suite-really handy! The open-plan kitchen and lounge made it easy to hang out together. We loved the hot tub, which we used daily-such a treat! The fire in the lounge made it super warm and inviting in the evenings. Plus, the little touches like the homemade brownie cakes, milkand tea/coffee left for us were thoughtful. Definitely good value for money!
James
We've stayed in quite a few holiday cottages over the yearsand honestly, this one really stands out. They even had a welcome pack for our well-behaved dog, which was a nice touch. The place was well-equipped and not cluttered with the owner's old stuff. It’s in a peaceful spot but still easy to get to places like Hadrian’s Wall, Beamish Museumand Gibside. Definitely recommended for a relaxing break!
Mark
Our stay in August at the Derwent was absolutely fabulous! The cottage was clean and had loads of space for 5 adults and 2 dogs. All 3 bedrooms were en-suite, which was great. The hot tub was a lovely extra, too. We arrived to find some gluten-free treats waiting for us, which was such a nice gesture. There's even a little shop hut on site for any extras you might need. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, Jayne, we’ll definitely be back!
Emma Clarke

We’ve been here three times and honestly, we can’t fault it! The new hot tub is fantastic, a lot bigger and it even has bubbles. We’ll definitely be returning!

We had a wonderful stay at Burnhill Derwent! This is our third time and, as always, everything was thought of to make our time as comfortable and enjoyable as it could be.
