Cragside Townhouse is a stylish three-storey property in Belford, Northumberland. This spacious holiday home sits just 4 miles west of Bamburgh in a peaceful village position. Perfect for families with three bedrooms sleeping six people and welcoming up to three dogs! The property combines modern comforts with countryside views that'll make you want to stay forever.

Belford might be small but packs a punch with shops, pubs, ice cream parlours, a museum and even a golf course. You're brilliantly positioned for exploring Northumberland's stunning coastline. Fancy castles? Bamburgh's magnificent fortress is minutes away. Want beaches? Sandy stretches await nearby. The Farne Islands offer incredible wildlife spotting while Holy Island provides that weird causeway experience where timing is everything (unless you fancy swimming back).

The accommodation spreads across three floors. Ground floor features a bright lounge with gas fire, well-equipped kitchen with Range oven, dining area with garden access and utility room. First floor houses a super-king bedroom with countryside views, a twin with en-suite and a contemporary bathroom with freestanding tub. The second floor boasts another super-king bedroom with its own kettle (morning sex and then tea without stairs - genius!) and French doors to a rooftop balcony.

The place is in a good spot, but it definitely needs some upgrades. The cooker’s left side doesn’t workand the stained bath was a letdown. Also, those exposed wires in the front room? Not ideal at all.

Belford’s a pretty handy spot for exploring around. The local co-op staying open late was a real plus. We were a bit let down by the farm shop, but the Well House Coffee Shop was really lovely. The house itself is spacious and comfortable. Not sure why there’s no freeview in the main lounge - my elderly dad struggled with the internet TV without us. The kitchen could do with some upgrades too, as a few things didn’t work. Still, we had a lovely time and really enjoyed the Hot Tub Hide. Would come back!

We reached out about the oven’s left side not working and two hob rings being dead, but the owner already knew and didn’t try to fix them. The dishwasher was a pain, only working sometimes and needing constant resets. The fridge had missing shelves, which was pretty annoying. Also, there was no instruction book for the appliances, even though the owner knew. Overall, the property feels quite tired and definitely doesn’t match the high price we paid. Beds were comfy, but that’s about it. Not the best experience really.

However, the night before check-in, we were told only some of the hobs workedand on our first night, it took ages to get even one going, so we ended up eating quite late. The owner’s suggestion to visit a closed chip shop wasn’t very useful. Fingers crossed they’ve sorted the cooker since then!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is fantastic-just a couple of mins walk to two pubs, a coopand a chippy, plus under 20 mins to some cracking beaches. The host was super friendly and gave us some local tips that weren’t in the guidebooks, which was great. The house itself was clean, spaciousand comfortable, perfect for us and the dog to relax. We did notice a few minor repairs needed in the kitchen and bathroom, but nothing major. We didn’t try the hottub as it didn’t seem very private, but overall, a lovely place to stay!

We stayed at Cragside in November and honestly, the cottage was fantastic. The overall standard was really high, with lovely bedrooms that had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was a real treat, especially after long walks on nearby dog-friendly beaches. Sadly, we had a power cut on our second day, so we had to cut our stay short and head home. The host and company were incredibly helpful and understanding, offering us compensation. We’ll definitely be back and using them again!
