This place was perfect for our pre-Christmas family catch-up. The views are stunning, with snow, sunshineand clear night skies for star gazing from the hot tub. We loved it so much we’ve already booked again - can’t wait to come back!

We spent a fantastic week with the family at Mount Hooley Lodge. The views are truly stunning and the spot is so peaceful and private, perfect for relaxing. The lodge itself feels spacious, cosyand super comfortable, with plenty of seating for everyone. We enjoyed a BBQ and toasted marshmallows by the firepitand the hot tub was a real treat, even during Storm Ashley. Also loved the walk along the old railway track from Alston - it's such a lovely trail. We’d definitely recommend it!
Emily Carter
We had such a lovely stay at the lodge! There was plenty of space for our group of sixand the views really are breathtaking. The hot tub and BBQ hut were definite highlights - perfect for relaxing evenings. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we neededand the water in the showers was always nice and hot, which is a big plus. We enjoyed exploring the nearby pubs and some lovely walks in the area. The only tricky part was the walk back up to the lodge from the road - it’s quite steep and a bit tiring, so might be tough for anyone with mobility issues or less fit. Our dogs had a great time running around in the spacious garden. All in all, it’s a truly beautiful spot for a peaceful getaway. We’re already planning our next visit, it really is a good place!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay at this lodge! The views are genuinely stunningand the place is super well-equipped - those comfy beds definitely helped us relax. The ground source heating, especially the underfloor system, was a real treat; we didn’t even miss a fire in October. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Michelin-starred Kirk Style Inn in Slaggyford, which was a highlight. The local taxi service was reliable and friendly. We took a charming steam train ride, which was great funand popped into Hexham for some shopping, although we mainly just enjoyed the excellent food and relaxing in the hot tub. Our dogs loved the walk by the river - it’s well fenced for off-lead fun. Chris and Marion were lovely hosts, very friendly but not overbearing. The local shop and butchery are top-notchand the BBQ hut and outdoor fire were perfect for cosy evenings. All in all, a truly wonderful place!
Emma
We stayed in this cosy, single-storey house nestled in such a lovely spot. The place was spotless and had everything we needed for our getaway. The hot water supply was ample, which was great, especially since it was a bit chilly during our July visit. The underfloor heating was a real bonus, keeping us warm and comfy while lounging in our PJs in the evenings. We really enjoyed unwinding in the hot tub after long days of exploring. The views from the house are stunning, making every moment feel peaceful. The drive to places like Keswick, Penrithand Grizedale was easy enough, taking about an hour or less, with some beautiful scenery along the way. We also took a trip to Durham and Gateshead, which was straightforward. A highlight was visiting Aira Force - those waterfalls are spectacular and worth parking at the Aira High Force spot. All in all, a perfect week of relaxing, pottering aroundand soaking in the countryside vibe. We’d definitely come back!
Emma

Finding it was straightforwardand the location is stunning. The balcony and hot tub are definitely the highlight - the view is just breathtaking! Only thing to note is the small garden for dogs, but there are some lovely walks nearby for them to enjoy.
